As a child, I was constantly drawing; the most common place
being in the car on long car trips. I had so many wild ideas, but my only
outlets to get those out of my over active imagination were either crayons,
colored pencils, and a big pad of paper. It wasn’t until I took my first
graphic design course in high school that I realized I had an eye for design. Not only that, but I excelled at it too and it made me feel good about myself.
I was astounded by what I could do with this new creative outlet and amazed by
how it made me feel. No longer was I tied to only using crayons and colored
pencils to express myself. I still dip into those from time to time because it’s
fun to feel like a kid again, but from that point on, I knew what I wanted to
do with my life.
Design excites me in ways that other things can’t. Everyday
I’m around design and I couldn’t be happier. Whether it is when I’m working,
designing for pleasure, or even just seeing design on the street, a little smile
eases its way on my face. I have always viewed the world in an abstract way. I’m
constantly having ideas flow through my head whenever I’m around design,
constantly thinking about ways I can make the world different with what I do.
To me, design is more than an interest, it is a passion.
